Meet the Founder: Lacee Horner

Every great garden starts with a single seed, and every grower has a story.
For Kalifornia Grown founder Lacee Horner, that story didn't begin with awards or recognition. It began with curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a deep appreciation for the people who generously shared their knowledge along the way.
Growing cannabis has always been about more than the harvest. It's about patience, observation, problem-solving, and understanding that no two gardens are ever the same. Every season brings new lessons. Every success comes with a handful of mistakes, and every mistake becomes another opportunity to grow.
Like many home growers across California, Lacee learned by asking questions, listening to experienced cultivators, trying new techniques, and never being afraid to admit when something didn't work. Some lessons came from seasoned legacy growers, others came from family and friends, and many came from simply spending time in the garden. Those experiences shaped not only her skills as a cultivator but also her belief that cannabis has always been strongest when knowledge is shared, not guarded.
Home growing creates something special. It teaches patience, humility, and respect—for the plant, for the process, and for the community that surrounds it. Those values became the foundation of Kalifornia Grown.
Living and growing in Lake County, California, Lacee found inspiration in the region's agricultural heritage and in the incredible community of cultivators who continue to preserve California's rich cannabis culture. From swapping cultivation tips to sharing genetics and lending a helping hand during harvest, she experienced firsthand what makes the California cannabis community so unique.
That sense of community is what Kalifornia Grown was built to celebrate.
Family has always been at the center of the journey. Long days in the garden were balanced with evenings around the dinner table, baking sourdough, creating family recipes, supporting local businesses, and building a life rooted in hard work and gratitude. The lessons learned in the garden naturally carried into everyday life: take care of what matters, help your neighbors, and leave things better than you found them.
Years of dedication eventually led to one of the proudest milestones in Lacee's journey. In 2026, she earned multiple awards in the inaugural Home Grow – Personal Use Competition at the California State Fair Cannabis Awards, becoming one of the first home cultivators to receive official recognition at the State Fair. The achievement was meaningful not because it marked an ending, but because it honored the countless hours spent learning, improving, and growing alongside a supportive community.
For Lacee, those awards belong to more than one person. They represent every mentor who shared advice, every friend who offered encouragement, every family member who believed in the vision, and every grower who understands that we're all students of the plant.
Kalifornia Grown exists to carry that spirit forward.
Today, the brand extends beyond the garden with apparel, home goods, collectible seed releases, and stories that celebrate the people who helped shape California cannabis culture. Whether you're an experienced cultivator, a first-time home grower, or someone who simply appreciates authentic craftsmanship, you're part of a community that believes knowledge should be shared, local businesses deserve our support, and success is something we build together.
At Kalifornia Grown, we believe the best gardens don't grow because one person knows everything.
They grow because a community chooses to learn together.
Legacy Built. Family Driven. Community Grown.
